BASIC FUNCTION

 The Medical Social Worker identifies, assesses and manages the psychological  needs of patients/families relating to illness and end of life care. Develops and  implements appropriate plans as part of an interdisciplinary team. S/He provides  counseling, education, advocacy and consultation.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

<!--[if !supportLists]-->1.      <!--[endif]-->Shall monitor the systematic documentation and reporting of the Medical Social Services.

<!--[if !supportLists]-->2.      <!--[endif]-->Shall assists the Medical Social Worker in skillful use of community resources, both Government Organization(GO) and Non-Government Organization (NGO), and other health and welfare agencies, civic and religious organizations, rehabilitation centers, placement institutions, volunteer groups, other government institutions, philanthropic individual etc.

<!--[if !supportLists]-->3.      <!--[endif]-->Shall assist and provide information to patients/relatives regarding the program and services of OB, Gyne, IM, Surgery, Chemo/ Hemodialysis, PCSO, DSWD and other medical social service applications.

<!--[if !supportLists]-->4.      <!--[endif]-->Shall answer all telephone calls and provide basic information of social services of the hospital.

<!--[if !supportLists]-->5.      <!--[endif]-->Shall perform and assist the Medical Social Worker in home visitation to AUFMC charity social service applicants

6.      <!--[endif]-->Shall make monthly, quarterly and annual narrative and statistical reports of the MSS activities, Social Service patients and PCSO Endowment Program.

Graduate from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Social or Behavioral Sciences or its equivalent

<!--[if !supportLists]-->2.      <!--[endif]-->Experience

                         Some experience in handling charity / social service patients’ case

<!--[if !supportLists]-->3.      <!--[endif]-->Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Considerable knowledge, skills and ability as stipulated in the Manual for Medical Social Workers, 5th Edition (DOH 2010)

Training and development activities necessary to enhance job-related knowledge,      abilities and skills
